Carbon Fibre or not

In 7.3.6 of Trevor's book, he gives bridge plate thickness for 'with Carbon Fibre' and 'Without Carbon Fibre'. I am planning to start building a falcate braced steel string and wonder would like some commentary on the pros and cons of omitting the carbon fibre on the bridge plate.

Without commenting on the structural issues since I'm not qualified to, it did strike me when reading about repair issues on another forum that the layer of carbon fibre and resin should substantially reduce problems with string ball end damage to the bridge plate.

Omitting the CF makes for easier assembly but you lose out on some cold creep resistance in the middle of the guitar. I routinely use the CF as it also makes the area pretty well split proof.
