To kerf or not to kerf - that is the question.

Hi Folks,
I've just started #2

The instructional video shows kerfed lining on one side and solid (pre-bent) strips on the other.

That's puzzling as its the same shape for both.

Does it matter which method you use?

is there a reason why one side was kerfed and not the other?

Some people use the solid lining for the back to sides joint because the consider it to look better though the soundhole. The soundboard to sides joint which is not seen, may use kerfed lining or individual blocks.(especially if building spanish style on a solera)

The Trevor Gore method is the opposite, using solid linings between soundboard and sides to retain more energy in the soundboard and kerfed lining to the back.

Take your pick (except for Flamenco Guitars which almost always use individual blocks on the soundboard to sides, to reduce sustain)

Solid linings to the back can also be more difficult when using tight (low radius) curvature on backs.
