Re: American Election Race
I'm getting a handle on you-all now. 5 minutes' googling got me a lot of answers. No wonder you have made it clear you don't want me around here. It's who you are. There's mountains more of this stuff, but you already know it, being messengers, and big picture guys (ooooh...scary) and fiercely indep...

I cannot believe that I have never heard that before. Sure is descriptive.

Re: American Election Race
Waste of time for me, Kim. We've lived with (not just read about) Barry's lies, and their bad effects, and media dis=information for almost 4 years now, and Obamacare is just a part of it. There is so much more. If he wins re-election, it probably won't affect you big picture guys" down under, not f...

Re: American Election Race
Kim, you and I and Peter and Nickusa and everyone else has not changed one idea since the beginning of the thread, and we're not going to. So why waste the time? I find your arguments almost completely unconvincing, I'm sure you find mine the same, nothing is getting accomplished and in the meantime...

Re: A clean, no-binding look
Christian - I think someone said that you used a 'bevel' to achieve the seamless effect. Is it done by very careful hand sanding or do you use a tool of some sort?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: American Election Race
I tried to edit the above to add some things, could not find the 'edit' button. Anyway, I suppose most of us have taken a course, or many courses, in logic both formal and informal; these courses are not necessary to clear thinking, because obviously there are a lot of clear thinkers out there who h...

Re: A clean, no-binding look
Thanks fellas. Food for thought. The 'minimal' look, in the right luthier's hands, can be a stunner.

A clean, no-binding look
Two instruments that have really impressed me recently had no bindings, and had a very nice and clean look to them. One was 'the Kauri" guitar by Christian on this forum; and one was by NK Forster in one of his vids. Could either of those gents - or others - give some direction on how to best achiev...

Re: American Election Race
Thanks for the lecture, Kim, I really needed that. I've never really just stopped and looked at the facts and made up my own mind about anything. How could I have been so misled?

Re: American Election Race
We could harangue each other til the cows came home and we would still end up interpreting the 'historical' facts differently. By his passive ass-kissing of foreign powers, Obama is weakening the world. Not just the USA. Terror organizations are flourishing and they threaten us all; and it is the he...

Re: American Election Race
Disagree with almost everything you said. The Bush/Cheney mantra is just that - a catch-phrase that caught on. Obama and his policies are a blight on the nation. I think even George Orwell would be shocked by the re-writing of history that the media has perpetrated on a lot of the civilized world. I...

Re: American Election Race
There are are many more things wrong with Obama than his fiscal so-called 'policy'. It is the entire direction of his thought, worldview and teleology. I don't know what crock of distortion is being fed to folks abroad by the media, but from comments here and other places I can tell that the 'news' ...

There are also a few good things about the U.S. And they are not small things, either. If you have anything of any open mind, these things are obvious:

Re: New 000 "The kauri"
One of the most gorgeous instruments I've seen. Sometimes a person has a whole bunch of ideas in his head, lots of design possibilities, new things to try, and he then sees something that brings it all together in an AHA!! moment. I just had that moment :cl What sort of finish did you use? It really...

I like that a lot - good job! The 'plain, unadorned' look has always appealed to me.

Another binding jig
From KMG guitars. I've used it on the last 10 instruments; I take a couple of passes out of caution, and it does a fine job. Inexpensive, easily adjustable, no bearings to fool with. Another way to skin that poor cat.

Re: Some Sobering Thoughts...
It's easy to find facts to fit our theories and thereby 'prove' them correct; I'm guilty of that upon occasion. That is not scientific methodology though I think it is how some "science" is done: Pseudo-science. Like Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth' which was such terrible drivel. Yes he won the No...
